Keep Sowing

“There are places you have not sown, where you will reap.

And places you will reap, where you have not sown.”

What does that even mean?

Let’s take a look at what Jesus said in John 4:35-38:

Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

“35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.

38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.”

Jesus found fulfillment in doing God’s Work. And that work included expanding God’s Kingdom by bringing in lost souls.

God is expressing to us today that there are a great number of people in our lives who are ready to know Him, ready to accept Him as their Lord and Savior–

Not many people that are ready to go and bring them in.

Not many who will go and tell them about the gospel.

Jesus is telling you and I today that we are called to bring in a harvest of souls.

We are called to speak the truth of God in His Word to people so they can come to know Him and accept Him as their Lord and Savior.

We are called to harvest in places we did not sow.

Yes, we may be leading someone to Christ for the very first time, but their awareness of the good news did not start there.

These are places where our fellow laborers, brothers and sisters in Christ, have already given their lives–sowing sometimes blood, time, sweat, tears, prayers, and their gifts, whether physical or spiritual to communities or individuals who needed Christ.

It may have started with a friendly, Christian neighbor who took them to church,

A Christian TV network,

A praying mother or father, grandma, or spouse

A kind and considerate college roommate

Or a benevolent landlord.

All believers–sowing seed. Not knowing when or where the harvest would come. But they kept sowing. Believing God hands in it and simply doing what God told them to do.

Jesus is saying to you and I: “Keep sowing”

Whether it be praying for someone,

Talking to someone about Jesus,

An encouraging text,

A social media post,

A phone call to a friend,

Extending helping hand to a stranger,

A blog post,

Striving to keep peace..particularly with those people who can be difficult to keep peace with.

A candid gesture of any warmth can all be ways to share the gospel to our lost and dying world and to welcome others into the Kingdom of God. Not only so they can  enter God’s Family and share God’s faithfulness and goodness to the world.

I am not saying for you to act like someone your not.

Be true to yourself and express God’s Love, forgiveness, and truth to those who have never heard the gospel in a way they can understand that is real and authentic to you. Don’t decide to be a preacher, standing on a rooftop proclaiming the gospel. (And that’s fine too…that is, if your called to speak Gods Truth in that way)

I am not saying it is easy either to share the gospel with people, no matter how God leads you to do it.

But, I encourage you to ask The Creator, The One Who Created you in His Image, The One Who Loves you and has a purpose and plan for your life:

That God–The Only God–who bled through flesh veins to seal your salvation,

The God Who Created your heart and created you to love.

Ask Him.

Ask Him to increase your capacity to LOVE Him, yourself and others so you can see past the negativity and darkness of our world and express the love of God in ways you are not familiar with and to people you have never reached out to before. Keep sowing where you have not been.

Ask God to give you creative ways of sharing the gospel with the world.

Jesus invites us today: to keep sowing. Regardless of we can see the immediate rewards or a harvest,

God wants us to sow where we have not sown before and reap.

Even if you never see the fruit of your labors.

Or the harvest of your actions.

Keep sowing seeds of blessings,

Seeds of comfort,

Seeds of encouragement,

Seeds of acknowledgement,

Seeds of affirmation,

Keep speaking words of light and love to people in bleak situations,

Keep sowing seeds of unconditional love,

Even when they’re acting “unlovable”

Keep sharing the gospel to people who have never heard the gospel.

Keep sowing to people and places that you have not been.

Just keep at it.

Just keep sowing.

For God is faithful.

He will make sure that there is someone there to reap that soul into The Kingdom of God for His Glory.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.–Galatians 6:9

Humble yourself and let God use you however He desires.

Just keep sowing.

And just keep reaping.

And keep your eyes wide open for the harvest of souls seeking salvation.

Because you never know when or where the harvest of souls will come from.

For the harvest is ripe, and the laborers are few.

Good thing we are among the few.

Thank you God for speaking this Word to me today.

Jesus, please help me to be sensitive to your direction throughout the day so I can always be ready to give answer for the hope I have in you. I ask you to enlarge my heart God and open my eyes so I can be ready to give and share the gospel with them. I take steps of faith to speak, listen, pray for, befriend, and consider people I never have before so you can use me to preach the gospel to them. I ask you to help me. Thank you Lord for helping me spread your love and life continuously so others will accept you as their Lord and Savior.

In Jesus Name I pray,

God bless you,
